Highlights Facebook notifications can get annoying It’s easy to disable these notifications You can do this via the settings menu on Facebook

Facebook can easily turn into a place where there is a massive notification overload. Although it is easy to disable push notifications on smartphones, if it’s specifically Facebook that’s bothering you, then following these steps will take care of things.

    On your phone

If you are using the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps to disable annoying Facebook notifications:

Open the Facebook app. Tap the More button that’s on the bottom-right. Tap Settings and then Account Settings. Tap Notifications. Here you can get rid of annoying notifications such as birthday reminders and live video.

For the Facebook app on Android, follow these steps to disable annoying Facebook notifications:

Open the Facebook app. Tap the three horizontal lines icon that’s at the top. Tap Account Settings. Tap Notifications and disable the notifications you don’t need.

    On your PC

To get rid of annoying notifications from apps and games (such as invites to play Candy Crush Saga or 8 Ball Pool), open Facebook’s application settings page. You’ll need to sign in to your Facebook account, if you haven’t done that already. Under Game and app notifications, click Edit. Click Turn off. If someone is persistently spamming you with app invites, open the blocking settings page and type their name under block app invites. To disable other notifications such as birthday reminders, open Facebook’s notification settings page. Click the button next to Birthdays and click Off. This will disable birthday notifications. Note that you will still see birthday reminders on your feed – you just won’t get a notification for them. You can click the button next to other types of notifications to turn them off on the same page.

iPhone and iPad: How to Make Notifications Deliver Quietly and Ungroup Notifications

Highlights iOS 12 brings the ability to group notifications by app This reduces clutter in the iOS Notification Centre You can disable this to ungroup notifications if you want

While iOS has always made it really easy for you to quickly disable notifications from apps, that’s not a great solution all the time. Sure, you can disable notifications from apps such as Facebook without missing much, but can you afford to disable all notifications from WhatsApp or your office email app? Probably not. Even if you try your best, there will always be some apps that you need notifications from, but which have a tendency to spam you with notifications. This leads to a cluttered Notification Centre and a greater chance of missing messages. With iOS 12, you have more control over notifications, which allows you to reduce spam and ensure that you don’t miss out on anything important. Here’s everything you need to know about managing notifications on iOS 12.

How to Disable Notifications in Google Chrome

Desktop notifications are one of the best features of modern browsers. They show previews of email, football scores or even instant messages, letting you to take a quick glance at updates without leaving the work you’re doing. But this can get a little overwhelming, particularly when it includes spam and advertisements. If too many sites have begun to send notifications, or if you need to shut out all the noise, you should disable Google Chrome notifications. Doing so is pretty simple:

Open the Google Chrome Settings page. You can either type chrome://settings in the address bar and hit Enter or click the hamburger icon at the top right > Settings.

Scroll to the bottom and click Show advanced settings.

    Under Privacy, click Content settings….

    Scroll down to Notifications.

Select Do not allow any site to show desktop notifications.

If you want to allow some websites to show notifications, you can click Ask when a site wants to show desktop notifications. Now sites will show notifications only if you permit them to.

Click Manage exceptions… to see the list of sites that you’ve granted permission for notifications. Click the X to the right of any of these URLs to stop the site from sending notifications.

How to Enable Wishlist Notifications in Steam to Track All Sales

If you’re a PC gamer then you probably just emptied you wallet thanks to the Steam Summer Sale. That is over now, but there are still a few tricks you can use to ensure that you never miss a deal. Aside from the usual Summer and Winter Sales, Steam also has daily and weekly deals. You’ll always find something on discount on Steam, and more often than not, it will actually be a game you’re interested.

Rather than have obsessively checking Steam to sift through deals, you should just enable notifications so that you’re informed when games on your wishlist are up for sale and when sales begin, making it easier for you to purchase what you want without emptying your wallet. This guide tells you exactly how to do that.

    1. Switch on the Steam client. Log in to your account.

    2. Click on your name on the top right. You’ll see an option called Account details, click it.

    3. This opens up your account within Steam’s own browser, on the right side, you’ll see an section called Email Preferences, click on Configure your email preferences below it.

    4. Here you can opt in for emails to be sent when a Steam Sale starts and when an item on your wishlist is on sale. You can also opt out of all email marketing communication. After choosing what you want, hit Save.
